Viki Steiri is a composer, cellist, pianist and interdisciplinary artist with an interest in free improvisation, experimental electronic music and composition for other media. She has written music for installations, performance, video art and film. Her first solo LP ‘Βalm’ was released digitally by Alien Jams and on vinyl by Rekem Records in 2024. She is a member of the improvised music/art group Ectopia with Adam Christensen and Jack Brennan, and has collaborated with other artists on releases such as ‘Future Chorus’ with Eleni Ikoniadou (Maenads/Hypermedium, 2023) and ‘sex robot’ with Turner prize winner Sidsel Meineche Hansen (self-released, 2019).
In the past she has co-hosted a radio show on NTS radio with Chloe Frieda (Alien Jams) and performed with the Eddie Prévost improvisation workshop. Other collaborators include visual artists Monster Chetwynd, Urara Tsuchiya, Zoe Williams, Shezad Dawood; Wysing Arts Centre (Ectopia residency and 'life/section' LP release), film collective Sharna Pax, and musicians Sofia Jernberg, Saint Abdullah, Dario Papavassiliou, Savvas Metaxas, Vindicatrix, Tom Wheatley, Design A Wave, A Dead Forest Index and AJ Pain.
She has performed in festivals and venues for innovative arts, including Cafe OTO, ICA, Hayward Gallery (London), Le Guess Who? (Utrecht), New Museum (New York), KW (Βerlin), Sound Quests (Τorino), Overgaden (Cοpenhagen), Glasgow International, Le Lac (Brussels), La Générale en manufacture (Paris), Fundação Manuel Antonio Da Mota (Porto), Romantso, TV Control Centre, Haus N Athen (Athens). Born in Greece, she moved to London in 2005 and is based in Athens as of 2021.
